JAMESTOWN – Two men are facing multiple charges following a car chase early Monday morning that ended on a logging road near the Cattaraugus County Line past Ivory, according to Jamestown Police.

Police made a routine traffic stop at 1:30 a.m. Monday at East Second Street and North Main Street. Police said a passenger in the Jeep, Brett Kinney, exited the vehicle and the driver, Kyle R. South, 27, fled in the vehicle.

Police pursued the fleeing vehicle south to Route 60 and Route 62, through Frewsburg and onto Ivory Road.


Police said South tried to pull onto a logging road and got the vehicle stuck near the Cattaraugus County line.

During the arrest, Jamestown Police recovered a .38 cal. handgun reported stolen from McKean County, Pa. Police said South was discovered to be a fugitive from justice on a burglary charge in McKean County.

South faces several vehicle and traffic violations along with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and being a fugitive from justice.











Kinney was found to have a set of brass knuckles police said and is being charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Both men are in the City Jail pending arraignment. Assisting Jamestown were the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police.
