JAMESTOWN – The annual ‘Hands on Jamestown’ cleanup event is set to kickoff Saturday morning at the newly renovated Winter Garden Plaza.

Citywide volunteers will work on a multitude of projects. A map on the JRC’s website outlines where most of the work will take place.

Participants are encouraged to pick up branches, leaves, sweep sidewalks and curbs. Due to limited resources, workers are encouraged to use their own tools, gloves, and other equipment; but some garbage bags and gloves will be available.

In addition, participants are encouraged to create brightly colored t-shirts to better stand out to motorists.

Event organizers warn anyone who finds improperly discarded syringes to not pick them up, but rather contact Evergreen Health at 541-0678 ext. 2.

A number of light refreshments will be available at the plaza from 8 a.m. until around noon. Crews will also have garbage bags and gloves available for volunteers.
