Longtime Falconer School Employee Honored During Thirty-First After Prom

FALCONER – A longtime Falconer Central School employee will be honored during the district’s ‘after-prom’ Saturday night.

Falconer Resident Kelli Merchant was awarded ‘Best in the West After Prom’ honoree.

School nurse and ‘after-prom’ coordinator Rosie Digirolamo said Merchant has helped with ‘after-prom’ in one form or another for many years.

“In 2004 we talked about having a coffee bar and she just took it and ran with it,” said Digirolamo.” She does her specialty coffee every year; this year we are having smores coffee and cowboy coffee.”

For the past 31 years Digirolamo said the ‘after-prom’ has kept kids off the streets and safe following senior prom. The event goes from around midnight to the early morning hours. Digirolamo said, afterwards, students just go home because they are tired.

This year’s theme is “Best in the West at FCS.” Digirolamo expects around 160 kids to attend.

Parents and community members are invited to attend an ‘after prom’ open house Saturday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the school’s gymnasium to see how the school was transformed.
