JAMESTOWN – One of the area’s largest Christmas parades and holiday celebrations is scheduled to take place next week.

Officials with the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation say this year’s theme for the Jamestown Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration is Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree; selected via Facebook vote.

JRC officials encourage participants to decorate their vehicles, floats, and people with a musical theme. Furthermore, floats are encouraged to play their favorite Christmas music.

The registration deadline to participate in the parade is Wednesday, November 27. A parade application is posted online.

The parade line up starts at 5 p.m. on West Third Street between Hallock Street and the Third Street Bridge. The paraded is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. traveling east toward city hall.

Live music from “For the People” will start at 5 p.m. at Tracy Plaza. Officials will also light the Jamestown Christmas Tree and hold a fireworks display that evening.

Santa will bring up the end of the parade and count down to the fireworks at approximately 8 p.m.

Festivities are presented by The Resource Center.

The parade, tree lighting and fireworks display will be broadcast LIVE on WNYNewsNow’s 24/7 streaming network and Facebook page starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6.
