ALBANY — New York State is giving school districts the choice to get rid of snow days.

The Department of Education says districts could switch to remote learning when they would normally cancel classes.

Education leaders will evaluate the policy after the school year and then decide whether to keep it moving forward.

Remote learning is now standardized in many districts statewide because of gathering concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
