JAMESTOWN – The average price for a gallon of gas is remaining steady in the Jamestown area, this as prices across New York State and the nation are going up.

According to GasBuddy.com the average price for a gallon of gasoline in Jamestown is $2.35, steady from earlier this month.

However, some rural areas like Clymer and Sherman saw an increase to $2.39 per gallon.

The national average of $2.25 is three cents higher than it was last week, with New York’s average of $2.32 is up two cents.

One year ago, the national average was $2.57, while New York’s was $2.70.

Experts say the domestic price of crude oil has been steadily rising since November, reaching levels not seen since February, before stay-at-home guidance was introduced across the country.
