JAMESTOWN – Police are in contact with the driver of a vehicle involved in a Christmas Eve hit-and-run crash in Jamestown.

Police say the driver of a Dodge Nitro compact SUV that caused a crash just after 6 p.m. last Thursday on North Main near Sixth Street has reached out to detectives and officers will be filing charges soon.

The vehicle, police say, was last seen on traffic cameras heading south on Forest and Newland Avenues.

Investigators believe there may be blue paint transfer from the vehicle that was struck.

The SUV also likely sustained heavy front, right corner and side damage along with wheel fender and headlight damage.

Police say the driver made no attempt to stop after the collision.

Officers have not yet identified the driver of the vehicle.
