JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Police welcomed a new K-9 to their ranks this week to help comfort victims of crimes.

Domestic Violence Officer Emma Ward tells WNY News Now her partner Hope will help victims of traumatic events by providing support and, most importantly, snuggles.

“She has only been here now for two days, and we’ve actually taken her out to the community to interact with people,” says Ward. “The first person was a victim of domestic violence, it was great for her and the officers there, it really helped the situation.”

The eight-week-old yellow lab has received a ton of praise online after the department introduced her in a welcome post on social media yesterday.

When off duty, Hope lives with Officer Ward who is continuing her training as a comfort dog.
