JHS’ Drew Carlson Named Section VI Scholar Athlete

JAMESTOWN – Six seniors on the Jamestown High School fall varsity sports teams qualified as Section VI Scholar Athletes, with Drew Carlson being named overall winner.

Carlson is on the cross country team.






Honorable mention awards went to: Joseph Dahlgren (Boys Soccer); Julissa Navarro (Girls Soccer); Sophia Simons (Swimming); Claire Pumford (Swimming) and Madison Smith (Girls Tennis).

“Being named to the All-Western New York Academic Team is a special honor,” said Jamestown Public Schools Athletic Director, Ben Drake. “These young men and women truly epitomize what the term, student-athlete, means. Not only are they great athletes, but these seniors also maintained an overall grade point average of 90 percent or higher during their four years at JHS. They are great role models for our younger athletes and we are all very proud of them.”





In addition to the six All-WNY Academic team student honors, there were also a total of 42 JHS varsity athletes recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) as scholar-athletes for the fall season. These athletes maintained a 90 percent GPA during the fall sports season.

Varsity Boys Cross Country: Colton Cappalino, Liam Conroe, Ayden Hagelin, Maxwell Knight, Jaymin Morano, Jack Osborne, Stavros Singleton and
Jacob Smeraldo.











Varsity Girls Cross Country: Emma Abers, Hannah Lutgren.

Varsity Boys Soccer: Carsen Bane, Noah Burch, Camron Curtis, Andrell Leeper, Tyler Maloney, Keith Miller, Andres Pacheco, Evan Sharpe and Spencer Trout.

Varsity Girls Soccer: Isabella DiDomenico, Holland Isaacson, Julissa Navarro, Haileigh Rhodes, Alivia Shilling, Gia Slaughter, Julia Smith and Melissa Tubbs.

Varsity Girls Swimming and Diving: Elsa Lumia, Claire Pumford, Alyssa Shimmel, Sophia Simons, Lindsey Spitz and Vivienne White.

Varsity Girls Tennis: Brittney Beardsley, Mia Brown, Cecelia Eklum, Raeonna Gendron, Rena Huntington, Nichole McGrath, Abrielle Monaghan, Ella Smith and Madison Smith.
