Police Identify Man Fatally Shot Overnight In Jamestown

JAMESTOWN – Police have identified the man shot and killed overnight in Jamestown.

Jamestown Police says 43-year-old Angel Ortiz Rodriguez was shot in the chest while inside the home at 38 Peach Street just after midnight Friday.





When officers first arrived on scene they found Ortiz Rodriguez outside.

He was taken to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital where police say he was pronounced dead soon after arriving.



















Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson tells WNY News Now, so far, his department has received several tips and obtained some leads on social media.

“When something like this happens, a lot of people talk about, we’ve already found some of this information on social media,” said Samuelson. “We are looking to obtain any information, if the victim maybe had a problem with somebody or if anybody heard anything at all, we want to hear about it.”

Police ask the community to call them at 483-7537 or anonymously leave a tip at 483-Tips (8477). The department also has an anonymous tip app, Tip411.

JAMESTOWN – Investigators have obtained a search warrant for the home where a 43-year-old man was shot and killed overnight in Jamestown.

Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson tells WNY News Now the shooting took place inside of 38 Peach Street just after midnight Friday.

The Chautauqua County Forensic Investigative Team will search the two-story home, which Samuelson says may take some time to thoroughly examine.

When his officers first arrived at the location, he says they found the man outside.

“They located the victim in the side yard of the location, he was transported to UPMC Chautauqua (Hospital) where he passed away soon after,” said Samuelson.

The Captain says so far, his department has received several tips and obtained some leads on social media.

JAMESTOWN – A 43-year-old man was shot and killed overnight in the City of Jamestown.

Jamestown Police say there were called to 38 Peach Street just after midnight for a reported shooting.

When officers got to the scene, they found the man in a side yard of the residence with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital where officers say he later died as result of his injuries.

Detectives are now asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information on the homicide is asked to call police at 483-7537 or anonymously at 483-Tips (8477). Police say all calls are kept confidential.
