JAMESTOWN – Three colleges in Chautauqua County are slated to receive over $22 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan.
According to U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, SUNY JCC will get $8 million, Jamestown Business College $163,000 and SUNY Fredonia will receive over $14 million.
He says that public and non-profit schools are directed to give half of the financial assistance directly to students to help with college costs and basic needs like housing food, and health care.
The remaining funding, Schumer says, should be used to deliver additional student support activities, covering additional institutional costs and reimbursing expenses created by the pandemic.
