GERRY – A 33-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting a woman Friday in Gerry.

New York State Police say Casey Saeger, of Gerry, is charged with third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing and blood circulation.

Troopers responded to a residence in Gerry for a reported assault.

Investigation revealed that during an argument starting the night prior, Saeger allegedly struck a female victim multiple times.

He then, troopers allege, burned her with a cigarette, used his hands to choke her when she tried yelling for help and physically prevented her from leaving the residence for over 15 hours.

Saeger was placed under arrest, processed and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment.
