JAMESTOWN – A shoe drive is being held by REALiFE Church in collaboration with Funds2Org in an effort to raise money for missions.
People are being asked to donate gently worn and new shoes at collection sites scattered across Jamestown. REALiFE Church will be given money by Funds2Org based on the collective weight of the donated shoes. The funds raised will be used by Jordan and Kira Spencer, who will be leading missions.
“We are excited about our shoe drive,” said Heleena Walter, coordinator for REALiFE Church. “We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us.
The donated footwear will be given to small businesses that have partnered with Funds2Org and will be given to people in need. Funds2Org “works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house their families.”
According to Spencer, by donating shoes “we raise money for the Spencer family to go into the mission field, and we have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
The shoe drive will “run” through Sunday, July 25.
