KENNEDY – A 21-year-old man is accused of driving while impaired following a crash near Kennedy.

New York State Police say troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Leach Hill Road last weekend.

It is alleged that while driving on the road, Jacob Jones’ vehicle lost traction causing him to overcorrect and drive into a ditch.

Jones, police say, was placed under arrest after failing several standardized field sobriety tests and was transported to the State Police Barracks in Jamestown where a drug recognition expert alleged he was under the influence of cannabis.

After providing a blood sample at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown, police report Jones was issued tickets and released.

Neither Jones, nor a passenger in his vehicle, was injured in the accident.
