LAKEWOOD – Following a year that proved to be very challenging, it’s more crucial to focus on mental health than ever before. Knowing that, the Suicide Prevention Alliance of Chautauqua County is working to help by hosting a special event.
Dubbed the “Glow Your Mind Virtual 5K Run/Walk,” the race will occur on August 21 in virtual fashion due to the pandemic.
It has been well documented that physical exercise is great for helping to manage stress and mental strain, making a 5K the perfect event for this bill.
“We know how important physical movement can be in our journey of mental wellness,” said Carri Raynor, Coordinator for the Suicide Prevention Alliance of Chautauqua County. “We may not be gathering this year, but we wanted to motivate our community to get moving with this fun annual event.”
To participate, go to preventsuicidechq.com to register. Additional information can be found on the Suicide Prevention Alliance Facebook page.
All of the proceeds raised by the 5K will remain in Chautauqua County for use in suicide prevention efforts.
