PORTLAND – Two people were hurt during a single vehicle crash on Route 5 in the Town of Portland Saturday.  

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says deputies found a heavily damage vehicle in the ditch on Route 5 near Van Buren Road just after 3:30 a.m.  

Two people were treated on scene by EMS personnel for their injuries. 

Deputies say one person was transported by Alstar EMS to ECMC and the other was flown via STAT MedEvac to Hamot. 

This incident is still under investigation by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.  

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Town of Portland fire department, Brocton fire department, Chautauqua County EMS and Alstar.,
