LAKEWOOD – Fitted in full turnout gear, a Falconer firefighter walked 110 flights on the stair stepper at the Chautauqua Mall Planet Fitness Saturday morning, in memory of the first responders who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Falconer Volunteer Fire Department Lieutenant Cody Catalano ventured on the more than 2,000 step stair climb, to symbolize and honor the life-saving work of firefighters, EMS and police officers on 9/11 twenty-years-ago at the World Trade Centers in New York City.

The local firefighter carried up to 80 pounds of gear, to remember the brave men and women who laid down their lives for others.

While Catalano will never know what it was like inside those towers that morning, he, along with tens of thousands of other first responders, will never forget the sacrifices made.
