Chautauqua County COVID-19 Update: Five Deaths, 313 New Cases Reported

MAYVILLE – Five new deaths and 313 additional cases of COVID-19 were reported last week in Chautauqua County.

The county Health Department announced the news in their weekly update on Wednesday.


Of the new cases, 102 are in the Jamestown area. There are now 296 active cases with 15 of those sick in the hospital.

Health officials say 56 percent of cases over the past month impacted the unvaccinated.

The seven-day average positivity rate is up slightly from the week before to six percent. The CDC also continues to maintain the community transmission of the virus under a “high” classification.



New York State vaccine data shows that more than 72,000 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine to date, making up 56 percent of the county’s total population.
