MAYVILLE – Several water projects across Chautauqua County have been awarded a total of $255,000 dollars in state funding as part of a clean environment initiative.

In total, the state is giving away over $22 million dollars through the Green Innovation Grant Program and via Engineering Planning Grants.

Locally, the Town of Pomfret will receive $135,000 dollars to install water meters with advanced metering infrastructure. Officials say this will increase water conservation by collecting more frequent and accurate readings.

The Town of Ripley, Village of Westfield, Chautauqua County Portland Pomfret Dunkirk Sewer District and Chautauqua County North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District are each receiving $30,000 dollars for various projects that will improve wastewater collection and treatment.
