JAMESTOWN – SUNY JCC students have a 30-day grace period to get their COVID-19 booster shot before they return to class this winter.
The college is following state guidance in rolling out the requirement. They previously had a vaccine mandate for students last fall, and now with the rise in COVID-19 cases in our state, are requiring the booster dose.
Guidance from the CDC says that a booster is due five months after the date of a student’s last Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or two months after receiving the J&J vaccine.
Students who have passed their booster due date as of December 31, have a grace period of 30 days to submit proof of a booster.
Proof that vaccinations are up to date must be presented to JCC Health Services. Students not in compliance with the mandate will be administratively withdrawn from classes.
Those who attend classes online and not physically on campus are not required to submit testing, vaccination, or booster status. Medical or religious exemptions may be submitted as well.
