ALBANY – Free snowmobiling for all out-of-state and Canadian residents is happening this weekend across New York State. However, temperatures likely won’t work in their favor.
State officials say this is the first promotional weekend in the month of March, with another opportunity to hit the trials for free on the following weekend March 12th and March 13th.
As part of the promotion, the state is waiving registration fees for properly insured out-of-state snowmobiling enthusiasts.
In total, New York touts a 10,500 miles of snowmobile trails with local clubs in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties taking part.
The Governor’s Office also announced up to $4.2 million for snowmobile trail maintenance and grooming will be distributed to local partners across New York State.
