ALBANY, N.Y. (WENY) – Governor Kathy Hochul signed a series of bills this morning addressing sexual harassment in the workplace.

She signed one bill that will provide a toll-free confidential hotline that people can call regarding complaints of workplace sexual harassment. She also announced all state and public employers will now be subject to the Human Rights Law.

Hochul said the measures are designed for people to work in a safe environment.

“So, today the bills that I’m signing will help everyone know that they can live and work in an environment with dignity, respect and the safety they deserve,” said Hochul.

The final bill the governor signed will prohibit retaliatory action by employers against employees who make complaints.
