RANDOLPH – Charges are pending following a multi-vehicle crash on I-86 in Randolph that sent three people to the hospital on Thursday.

Following an investigation by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, deputies say around 3:30 p.m. a vehicle traveling east on the highway just past the Randolph exit lost control and crashed in the median.

Another vehicle, traveling west, saw the accident play out and stopped to assist in the middle of the westbound lane. They were then hit from behind, with that vehicle coming to a rest in the middle of the highway.

The fourth and final vehicle involved in the crash, deputies report, attempted to avoid the collision driving off the northside shoulder of the westbound lane, taking out a guard rail.
