Frewsburg Native Called Up To The Big League, Contract Purchased By NY Mets

NEW YORK (WNY News Now) – A Frewsburg native has been called up to the big leagues, with his contract purchased by the New York Mets on Monday.

Connor Grey joined the Mets’ bullpen for their game at Yankee Stadium.

The 28-year-old made 22 appearances so far this year at Triple-A Syracuse, riding 5-5 with a 5.52 earned-run average. He struck out 75 and walked 40 in 93 innings.











He was the 20th-round draft pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2016.

The local made a combined nine appearances at Triple-A Reno in 2017 and 2019.

Grey’s best season was in 2017 prior to getting to Reno, when he went 9-4.









He was released by Arizona following the 2019 season.

Grey didn’t play in 2020 when minor league baseball was canceled by the pandemic.
