JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – A public forum to discuss Jamestown’s crime increase will be held later this month.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 14 at Christ First United Methodist Church, 663 Lakeview Ave. in Jamestown at 6:30 p.m.

This meeting is meant to give additional time for comment on any issues residents would like to address, with housing and public safety concerns expected to dominate the conversation.

Council President Tony Dolce announced the meeting during a public press conference following a deadly shooting in mid August.

“The structure of this again is a public forum,“ explained President Dolce. “I’ve asked the Chief of Police to be there to talk about some of the safety issues and go over some of the things that are being done within his department to deal with the recent situations. Also I’ve asked the Director of Development to be there to talk about some housing and neighborhood issues and initiatives. So they’ll give brief presentations and then we’ll open up to the public.”

The public forum is open to all in the community that wishes to attend. WNY News Now plans to attend and provide coverage of the discussion.
