JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was arrested following a dispute that allegedly led to a dog getting hit several times in the face with a metal object Tuesday.

Officers responded to an address on the city’s south side Tuesday afternoon for reports of a dispute.

While responding, officers were advised that an incident had occurred to a dog, officers were able to locate a gray pitbull, laying on the ground unable to move.

Observations revealed the dog had several open wounds on its head and face area.

Investigation revealed that 57 year-old Gregory Rosier of Jamestown broke up a fight between two dogs, however officers were informed that Rosier engaged the pitbull afterwards and allegedly began striking it in the face with a metal object.

Witnesses told officers that the pitbull showed no signs of aggression towards Rosier as he struck the dog multiple times.

Officers took Rosier into custody and transported him to Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.

The dog was taken to a local veterinary office for medical assistance.
