JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – A staple of the Jamestown High School Community, best known for his “ruler suspenders,” has passed away following a bout with terminal cancer.

JHS Head Custodian Andy Field sought hospice care for terminal brain cancer earlier this year.

Field worked at the district for more than 40 years. The school announced his passing this week.

“We were all so very sorry to hear of his passing,” the school wrote on social media. “His dedication to JHS was unparalleled. Students and staff will miss his smile and legendary suspenders. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.”

Over $7,500 dollars in donations helped cover medical expenses and fix up the Field’s camping trailer so Andy could spend his final days in the great outdoors.
