JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – There was an increased police presence at school across Jamestown on Monday morning.

Administrators with Jamestown Public Schools says the district received a social media threat by an anonymous internet poster on Sunday.

“JPS was made aware of a social media threat by an anonymous internet poster,” school officials said in a statement on social media. “The threat did not identify a specific district, school or person.”

After review by Jamestown Police, officials determined the post was not specifically related to the city school district.

“The safety of our schools is always our top priority,” school officials continued. “JPS is dedicated to maintaining a strong partnership and open communication with our school community. To that end, JPS will always communicate directly in the case of any situations that may affect our schools.”

Out of an abundance of caution, an increased police presence was established throughout the school district on Monday.
