FREDONIA, NY (WNY News Now) – Redevelopment of a historic Fredonia inn continues.

Back in July, local businessman Steve St. George and restaurant partner Devin Jones announced they plan to purchase the White Inn and restore the iconic structure as a hotel, restaurant, bar, and events space.

In an effort to help fund the project, Chautauqua County is applying for a $1.5 million dollar Restore New York grant on behalf of the White Inn at 52 East Main Street in Fredonia.

Entering its second century, many original architectural details have been preserved throughout the hotel including tin ceilings and fireplaces.

For legislator Susan Parker, who represents those in the Village of Fredonia, this is an important undertaking she stands behind.

“People have been horrified that this hotel has closed, because it represents something larger than just a hotel,” said Parker.

Following a public hearing held on Wednesday, the County’s Industrial Development Agency will now apply for the funding in the coming weeks.
