ALBANY, N.Y. (WENY) – New York State released a report detailing the role of online platforms in the racially motivated Buffalo mass shooting at a Tops grocery store that killed 10 black people and wounded three others.

The report concludes that fringe online platforms like 4chan, radicalized the shooter while livestreaming platforms like Twitch, were weaponized to publicize and encourage copycat attacks.

As a result, governor Kathy Hochul and state attorney general Leticia James are pushing for federal and state reforms.

They are also calling for new state legislation that would criminalize resharing or reposting images of mass shootings created by the shooter.
