ALBANY, N.Y. (WENY) – Governor Kathy Hochul honored hundreds of new state troopers at the 211th session of the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy.

In total, 218 new troopers graduated and several of the troopers are from the southern tier.

“Serving as a New York State Police Trooper has only grown more complex, and their commitment to protecting the people of our state is an inspiration to us all,” Governor Hochul said. “These 218 men and women are dedicating themselves to public service, and as Governor, I will continue to do everything I can to protect them in the same way they protect us. On behalf of all New Yorkers, I congratulate the graduates and thank them for their hard work and perseverance.”

The new troopers will report for field duty on October 28th.
