LAKEWOOD, NY (WNY News Now) — Three shoplifting incidents in the same number of days kept Lakewood-Busti Police busy over the weekend.
These thefts occurred at the East Fairmount Avenue Walmart between Friday and Monday.
On Friday the 13th at 3:30 p.m., April Sardi, a Jamestown woman, was arrested by the Lakewood-Busti Police for petit larceny. The 47-year-old allegedly stole $830.59 worth of merchandise.
Then, just hours later at 8:50 p.m. Friday, a 42-year-old Olean man was apprehended for petit larceny after allegedly stealing $751.15 in goods from the same Walmart.
The suspect, Eric Preston is also being charged with resisting arrest after allegedly leading the Lakewood-Police Department on a foot chase in an attempt to flee.
In the last of this string of thefts, occurring on Monday, police arrived just in time to spot a shoplifting call to allegedly witness Sue L. Foster, 50-years-old, walking out of the superstore with allegedly stolen goods.
Police said Foster fled after being confronted by the store’s assets prevention investigator, and continued running after also being asked to stop by officers.
The Little Valley woman is being charged with stealing $498.96 in products. Added to her charge of petit larceny are resisting arrest, burglary, criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.
The additional charges were lodged after Foster allegedly attempted to flee, police allegedly found drugs in her bag and the fact that she was with a child.
All suspects were released with an appearance ticket.
