FREDONIA, NY (WNY News Now) — A boil water order was issued Sunday for residents in the Village of Fredonia.

Mayor Douglas Essek said in a statement the County Health Department issued the guidelines around 11:30 a.m. for all Fredonia water customers.

Essek said there has been a disruption in the disinfection treatment, making the water not safe to drink.

In order to make the water safe, residents must bring all water used for drinking or cooking to a rolling boil, then cool before using.

The mayor said residents will be notified when it is no longer necessary to boil water and actions are being taken to correct the problem as soon as possible.
