Jamestown, NY (WNY New Now) – Jamestown Police Department responded to an address on the city’s east side, apprehending a 55 year old man who attempted to flee after violating a stay-away order of protection.
On August 17th, 2023, at approximately 2:00 PM, the Jamestown Police Department responded to a call concerning an unwanted individual on the east side of the city. Responding officers were familiar with the individual in question, identified as Michael A. Baxter, 55, who had active warrants issued by the Jamestown Police Department.
As the officers were arriving they spotted Baxter walking after descending from the roof of the victim’s residence to escape. This maneuver led to a standoff ultimately resulting in Baxter’s detention.
It was discovered that Baxter had violated a valid stay-away order of protection, which prohibited him from being at the victim’s residence. Baxter now faces charges that include aggravated family offense, criminal contempt 2nd degree, and the active warrant.
After his arrest, Michael A. Baxter was transported to the city jail.
