(WNY News Now) – On Friday September 29, 2023, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) released a statement following his vote in support of H.R. 5525, the Continuing Appropriations and Border Security Enhancement Act.

Washington D.C. – In a recent statement, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced his vote in favor of H.R. 5525, the Continuing Appropriations and Border Security Enhancement Act. The bill, a short-term spending proposal, aims to advance conservative policies, reduce government spending, and tackle the ongoing border crisis.

“Today, I voted for a short-term spending bill that advances conservative policies, curbs spending, and addresses the crisis at the border,” said Rep. Langworthy. “While it gained the support of most House Republican Conference members, 21 of my colleagues chose to oppose it because it wasn’t perfect. Blocking this short-term spending proposal only gave more leverage to Biden, Schumer, and McConnell, threatening our ability to institute real spending reforms that will get our nation’s fiscal house in order and lower inflation on hardworking Americans. As we approach the weekend, our legislative efforts remain focused on securing funding for the federal government, and I will work until the last minute to avert a shutdown.”

Nick Langworthy represents the 23rd Congressional District of New York, encompassing several counties, including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, and parts of Erie County. For more information, visit langworthy.house.gov.
