JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (WNY NEWS NOW) – The Jamestown Red Raiders defeated the Niagara Falls Wolverines 48-32 in the section 6 class AA quarterfinals. Though the Wolverines would not make it easy on Jamestown.

Niagara Falls headed into the game as the underdog holding the #6 seed with a record of 2-6. After Jamestown defeated Niagara Falls 35-6 in week 2, it looked like Jamestown would be heavy favorites heading into the game.

Jamestown opened the game scoring on their opening drive to take a 7-0 lead.

Niagara Falls immediately answered back with a touchdown and successful 2-point conversion to take a 8-7 lead.

Jamestown would grab the lead back on their following possession only to have Niagara Falls score towards the end of the 1st quarter to the tie the game up at 14-14.

Jamestown would open the second quarter with a touchdown to take a 20-14 lead with a missed extra point attempt.









The back and forth scoring would continue with Niagara Falls then scoring midway through the second quarter. They would also miss on the 2-point conversion for a tie game at 20 a piece heading into halftime.

Niagara Falls came out of halftime and quickly moved down field scoring a touchdown and taking a 26-20 lead after another failed 2-point conversion.

The Raiders would answer right back with a touchdown and a extra point to retake the lead, 27-26.

Jamestown would lead 34-26 at the end of 3 quarters.

2 more touchdowns in the early half of the 4th quarter would give Jamestown a more comfortable lead, 48-26.

However, Niagara Falls would continue to hang around late into the 4th quarter with a fake punt that turned into a touchdown to pull within 48-32.

That would end the scoring between the two teams in a game that was a shootout through 3 quarters of high school football action.

Lancaster also defeated Hutch Tech on Friday evening. With a Lancaster victory over Hutch-Tech, the Raiders will be on the road next week to face Lancaster in the semi-finals.

Lancaster defeated Jamestown 41-21 in their regular season matchup on October 6th.
