Traffic Stop in Jamestown Leads to Multiple Drug Charges

(WNY News Now) – Two Chautauqua County men are facing multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Jamestown on the evening of November 4, 2023.

Jamestown – On November 4, 2023 at approximately 10:02 pm, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit and K9 Unit conducted a routine traffic stop on N Main St near W 1st St, prompted by observed traffic infractions. Subsequent investigation revealed that John C. Tufino, a 31-year-old male from Jamestown, NY, and Alexis L. Tufino, a 46-year-old male from Dunkirk, NY, were allegedly in possession of a quantity of Fentanyl. As a result, both individuals were transported to the Jamestown City Jail on charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

During a further search inside the jail, authorities discovered that John Tufino was concealing a substantial quantity of narcotics in an intimate location on his body. In an attempt to remove and destroy the narcotics, John was additionally charged with Felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, along with two counts of Felony Tampering with Physical Evidence and another count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.


It is worth noting that John Tufino was already on Federal Probation for a previous narcotic possession, which led to the issuance of a Federal Probation Warrant following his recent arrest. John Tufino is currently being held in the Jamestown City Jail, pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
