(WNY News Now) – In the early hours of November 23rd, 2023, a violent altercation at Orbis Lounge on Genesee Street resulted in a stabbing and gunfire, leading to the arrest of two individuals.

Syracuse – At approximately 1:08 A.M., officers responded to a stabbing call at Orbis Lounge, discovering a 33-year-old male victim with a neck wound. The suspect, Canaan Edwards, 30, was detained by bar staff. The victim, in serious but stable condition, was transported to Upstate Hospital.

Investigation revealed a bar altercation escalating outside, culminating in Edwards stabbing the victim. Bar security, notably Amir Diggs, 30, fired a gunshot into the air during the altercation. Edwards faces charges of Assault and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, while Diggs faces charges of Reckless Endangerment and weapon-related offenses.

The firearm used by Diggs is yet to be recovered. Both suspects were booked at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
