(WNY News Now) – Governor Kathy Hochul has approved $2.8 million in federal infrastructure funding to enhance roads in Allegany County, part of a broader $100 million initiative for statewide road resurfacing improvements under the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act signed by President Biden in November 2021.

Belmont, NY – Governor Kathy Hochul has greenlit $2.8 million in federal infrastructure funds dedicated to improving roads in Allegany County. This allocation is part of a broader $100 million initiative aimed at statewide road resurfacing improvements, a component of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act signed into law by President Biden in November 2021. The Act seeks to revitalize America’s aging infrastructure by providing substantial investments for transportation and road enhancements, rural broadband access, and clean energy initiatives to generate employment opportunities.

Allegany County residents will benefit from $1.8 million to resurface I-86, Route 305, and Route 446 in
the Town and Village of Cuba, and $1.0 million to resurface Route 19 from the Pennsylvania state line to
Stannards in the Town of Willing.

Nearby counties are also receiving significant road investments that will benefit Allegany County
motorists. A total of $12.9 million is expected to be provided to resurface and improve roads in the
Western New York region. Planning is now underway for these projects, and resurfacing will begin in the
spring of 2024.

The Allegany County Democratic Committee promotes and supports effective government at the
federal, state and local levels to improve the quality of life for Allegany County residents.
