(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from December 18, 5:00PM, until December 19, 10:00 AM EST for Chautauqua County, particularly the Chautauqua Ridge area.

The Warning also covers Erie and Crawford counties in Pennsylvania from 3PM Monday through 1PM Tuesday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is also in place for the rest of Western NY and Northwestern PA for the same time frame. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches will be possible across the higher terrain within the advisory areas with 2-4 inches elsewhere.

Widespread heavy snowfall, ranging from 7 to 10 inches, is anticipated, with lower amounts near Lake Erie. Strong winds up to 30 mph may cause blowing snow. Travel will be challenging, impacting Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes. Residents are urged to report snow conditions via the NWS website or social media.
