(WNY News Now) – The Prendergast Library is gearing up for a plethora of events for children heading into next week’s mid-winter break for Jamestown Public Schools, including a cardboard skateboard arts and crafts project.
Mid-winter break is right around the corner for Jamestown Public Schools, and the James Prendergast Library is preparing a number of activities that children will be able to partake in while they’re out of the classroom. While the library will be closed on Monday in observance of Presidents’ Day, they will be open the rest of the week, with open-play in the Makerspace from 10:30 to 1:30 Tuesday through Friday, and an extended session on Saturday, lasting from 10:30 to 3.
Additionally, the library will be holding a stuffed animal story time on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. for those who can’t make it to the morning sessions the library normally holds at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Friday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m., the library will be holding a cardboard skate park arts and crafts activity, where children ages 8-14 will be able to create a skate park for miniature Tech Deck skateboards by cutting and glueing cardboard together.
While registration is not required for the events, it is greatly appreciated, as it helps the library to determine the number of participants. To register for an event, you can either call them or visit the library in person. The library’s address is 509 Cherry Street, and their phone number is (716) 484-7135. For those who want to know more about events the library holds, you can grab event calendars for both children and adults at the front desk.
