4 individuals were arrested by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s office following reports of a burglary in Portville.

On April 2, 2024, at 4:38 AM, deputies were dispatched to Portville Ceres Rd, Portville NY, in response to reports of suspicious activity involving multiple individuals tampering with locks and pilfering items from storage units. Upon investigation, four suspects were found with stolen property and burglary tools on site.

The suspects, Michael R. French, 45, Jessica L. Bailey, 37, Brandon G. Gaines, 41, and Katherine A. Ray, 42, all of Boliver, NY, were all charged with Criminal Trespass in the 3rd Degree (Class B Misdemeanor), Possession of Burglar’s Tools (Class A Misdemeanor), and Burglary in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony).

Jessica L. Bailey was released on her own recognizance, while Katherine A. Ray was remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail on $2,500 cash, $5,000 Bond, and $10,000 Secure Bond. Due to prior felony convictions, Michael R. French and Brandon G. Gaines were remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail without bail. All suspects face further legal proceedings in the Town of Portville Court.
