(WNY News Now) – New York – The New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I) has announced the commencement of applications for its 2024-2025 Community Grants Program, offering up to $20,000 to support pollution-prevention initiatives at the local level.

The Community Grants Program is designed to support projects that not only raise awareness of pollution prevention but also facilitate the implementation of best practices tailored to local contexts. Community organizations, municipalities, and various public-sector and not-for-profit entities are encouraged to submit proposals that address critical environmental challenges and promote sustainable solutions.
With applications due by May 3, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., eligible applicants have the chance to secure funding to advance their initiatives. Successful projects may receive grants of up to $20,000 to support their endeavors in pollution prevention.
Pollution prevention, a core focus of NYSP2I’s mission, entails the reduction or elimination of waste at its source through strategic interventions such as process modifications, adoption of non-toxic substances, conservation techniques, and material reuse practices. Community organizations, though not mandated to hold 501(c)(3) status, must submit a W-9 form along with their applications.
