(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A harrowing motor vehicle accident on May 15, 2024, shook a Southside residence in Jamestown, involving a 39-year-old resident of Jamestown, allegedly under the influence of drugs.

In a distressing incident, law enforcement responded to a Southside residence following reports of a vehicle crashing into a house at approximately 11:24 AM. Upon arrival, officers discovered Justin K. Kopta allegedly overdosing beside the vehicle. Witnesses recounted Kopta’s attempt to back into his driveway when the collision occurred.

A subsequent search of Kopta and his vehicle purportedly yielded fentanyl and methamphetamine. Law enforcement officials concluded that Kopta operated the vehicle while under the influence of narcotics and with a suspended license.

Kopta was promptly transported to UPMC Chautauqua for medical attention before being transferred to Jamestown City Jail. He faces charges including Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Unsafe Backing, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree.

Released on appearance tickets, Kopta awaits his day in Jamestown City Court.
