In a dramatic turn of events, a Town of Tonawanda man faces a split sentence after a late-night stabbing incident outside a local tavern.

This morning, Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced the sentencing of 30-year-old Zachery S. Meer from Tonawanda. Meer received a sentence of six months in jail, followed by five years of probation, handed down by Acting Erie County Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio.
The incident took place on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at approximately 11:40 p.m. Meer inflicted physical injuries on a 29-year-old male victim by stabbing him in the torso with a knife. The violent altercation occurred on the patio of a tavern located in the 1800 block of Colvin Boulevard in the Town of Tonawanda. The victim was promptly transported to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) by ambulance, where he received treatment for his stab wound.
In March 2024, Meer pleaded guilty to one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class “D” felony, which was the highest charge that could be sustained.
A final order of protection was also issued today on behalf of the victim, ensuring his safety until June 2029.
Acting DA Keane praised the Town of Tonawanda Police Department for their diligent work in the investigation of this case. The prosecution was led by Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Pinelli of the Felony Trials Bureau.
