Police Intervene to Prevent Potential Fatalities in Lake Shore Drive Incident
On May 30, 2024, at approximately 3:30 AM, the Dunkirk Police Department responded to a disturbance at 123 Lake Shore Drive West. Upon arrival, officers were informed of a possible stabbing at the location. Inside the apartment, they found Twain Buchanan-Scott, 34, from Dunkirk, New York, armed with a knife, standing over a female victim with multiple stab wounds.
Police quickly subdued Buchanan-Scott without incident, ensuring the safety of the victims and themselves. The female victim and another male victim, both with non-life-threatening stab wounds, received immediate medical attention from the Dunkirk Fire Department and Alstar Ambulance.
Buchanan-Scott was transported to UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown and subsequently arrested on June 5, 2024, on charges of Burglary in the First Degree (PL 140.30), Assault in the Second Degree (PL 120.05), and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (PL 145.00). During his arraignment, he was held on $100,000 cash bail or a $200,000 bond, as ruled by Judge Kuzdale of the Dunkirk City Court.
