Emmanuel Jenkins, a 38-year-old inmate, was found guilty of multiple felonies, including attempted rape, robbery, assault, and weapon possession, following a two-day bench trial on May 4, 2024. The verdict was delivered by Honorable Melissa Lightcap Cianfrini.

Jenkins, already serving a 15-years-to-life sentence for a series of predatory sexual assaults, committed these latest crimes against a civilian employee within the Attica Correctional Facility. The charges include Attempted Rape in the First Degree (a Class C Felony), Robbery in the First Degree (a Class B Felony), Assault in the Second Degree (a Class D Felony), and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (a Class D Felony). He was acquitted of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree.
Acting District Attorney Vincent A. Hemming emphasized the gravity of Jenkins’ criminal history and stated, “When the Defendant appears for sentencing, we will be recommending that the Defendant be sentenced to the maximum sentence allowed by law. Given the facts of this case, and Defendant’s criminal history as a serial rapist, he should never be allowed out of prison.”
The case, prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Chelsie Hamilton, underscores the ongoing commitment to justice and public safety. Jenkins is scheduled for sentencing on July 17, 2024, and faces up to 25 years in prison for these latest convictions.
