Buffalo Resident Faces Charges for March Assault Incident
Lamont K. Love, a 34-year-old resident of Buffalo, was arraigned on Friday afternoon on charges of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Assault in the Third Degree. The indictment, presented by Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane, alleges that Love attacked a woman in Shoshone Park on March 3, 2024.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on the 1900 block of Hertel Avenue. Love, who was riding a bicycle, allegedly approached the victim, who was walking in the park. He is accused of jumping off his bicycle and forcibly subjecting the victim to sexual contact. The victim managed to escape and reported the assault to the Buffalo Police Department.
Love, who was not known to the victim prior to the incident, is set to appear in court again on July 2, 2024, for a pre-trial conference. Prosecutors requested that Love be held without bail, but the court set bail at $25,000 cash, insurance company bail bond, or a partially secured surety bond. A temporary order of protection has been issued for the victim.
Acting DA Keane praised the Buffalo Police Department for their diligent investigation, which led to Love’s arrest and subsequent indictment. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Daniel J. Mattle of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, Love is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
