In a tense encounter, Jamestown police arrested two individuals following a dramatic weapon threat on the city’s westside.
On the afternoon of June 18, 2024, at approximately 2:21 PM, officers from the First Platoon swiftly responded to a report of a person with a weapon at a westside address in Jamestown. The officers were informed upon arrival that the suspect, Katelynn J. Cornell, had returned a black handgun to the residence.
Following an investigation, it was determined that Cornell, a 29-year-old female, had used the handgun to threaten a victim by pointing it at their head. During the incident, 35-year-old Michael A. Lapp stood beside Cornell, further intimidating the victim and acting as a physical menace.
The officers located a black BB gun inside the residence, which was identified as the weapon used in the threat. Following the discovery, both Cornell and Lapp were taken into custody without resistance and transported to Jamestown City Jail.
Katelynn J. Cornell faces charges of Menacing in the 2nd Degree, while Michael A. Lapp is charged with Menacing in the 3rd Degree. Both individuals are being held pending arraignment at Jamestown City Court.
