A routine patrol turns into an arrest after a man provides false identity to avoid apprehension.

On June 23, 2024, at approximately 6:45 PM, Jamestown officers from the 2nd platoon responded to a suspicious situation near Forest Avenue and Warner Place. Reports had surfaced of individuals peering into car windows, prompting a swift police response. Upon arrival, officers encountered Alex C. Peru, a 32-year-old resident of Jamestown.

During the interaction, Peru allegedly attempted to deceive the officers by providing false identification. He gave them the details of a relative, hoping to evade capture due to an outstanding warrant from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. However, his attempt to avoid arrest was unsuccessful.

Peru was taken into custody and transported to the city jail, where he is currently held pending arraignment at the Jamestown City Court. He faces charges of Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree.
